Trademarks in Afghanistan are assigned and governed by Afghanistan Intellectual Property Board,under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Afghanistan is not a party of the Madrid Protocol. A trademark is valid for 10 years and the owner of the trademark may apply for an additional 10 years for the exclusive use of thetrademark upon expiration of the initial 10 years.
