Restrictions on domain names, com.sb and net.sb are unrestricted; other names have some restrictions including local presence requirement.

Trademarks are assigned through the Registrar-General's Office, Ministry of Police and Justice. Solomon Islands is not a member of the Madrid Protocol. A trademark is valid for 10 years and may be renewed for further periods of 10 years each. A trade mark cannot be registered in the Solomon Islands without first registering the trade mark in the UK. The UK registration certificate then needs to be certified by the UK Intellectual Property Office and be presented with the trademark application in the Solomon Islands. A Community Trade Mark registration, Madrid Protocol UK Registration or Madrid Protocol Community Trade Mark Registration cannot be used in the Solomon Islands.
